IonQ's Capella Unit Wins U.S. National Reconnaissance Office Radar Contract

In a major commercial space defense announcement, quantum computing leader IonQ announced that its subsidiary Capella has been awarded a mission-critical contract under the National Reconnaissance Office's (NRO) Radar Commercial Augmentation program.

Under the award, Capella will supply all-weather, day-and-night Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery to enhance U.S. national security operational awareness. IonQ CEO Niccolo de Masi highlighted that the SAR capability will deliver persistent, millimeter-scale surface monitoring and rapid automated orbital data gathering for complex global environments.
